What is the fundraising target?
Our aim is to exceed $120k which was the amount raised for the MATES Big Lap in 2024. Every dollar counts all all funds raised goes back into the operation of MATES.

You can sign up and participate in the event, donate directly, or support participants by spreading awareness and encouraging others to contribute.
How do I promote my fundraising page?
Share your page via email, social media, or in-person conversations. Tell your story and explain how MATES’ work aligns with your values to inspire support.
What do I need to participate in the Big Lap?
Apart from registering, you’ll need enthusiasm, a willingness to spread awareness, and a commitment to raising funds for MATES.
What is MATES Big Lap?
When is it?
Who can join the event?
This is a virtual event so all our mates across Australia can join in - walk, run, ride, swim or wheel – choose what you do best.
What is the challenge?
Our goal is to combine our kilometres and complete the distance around Australia of 15,000kms x 9 laps. The number 9 represents the number of Australians who lose their lives to suicide each day.
Registration
Can I register a team?
Yes, you can either set up a pre-paid team (eg your workplace may register for you) or join a team of mates.
Each team member's registration is $35 which includes the Big Lap t-shirt. However, pre-paid teams of 20 or more also recieve a Body Armour drink bottle! Delivery is to one address only.
How much is registration and what is included?
The registration fee for MATES Big Lap is $35 which includes a MATES Big Lap 2025 t-shirt delivered to you.
If you choose to register a Pre-paid Team of 20 or more members, each person will also recieve a Body Armour drink bottle with hydration samples. **Please note that deliveries to pre-paid teams are to one address.
Do I have to participate in the Big Lap to fundraise?
We encourage people to be physically active as this does aid mental well-being. However, you can still fundraise even if you’re not directly participating in the event.
General
Are donations tax deductable?
Yes, all donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible in Australia. Donors will receive a receipt via email.
Can I update my fundraising page after I’ve created it?
Yes, you can edit your page anytime to update your goal, add photos, or post updates for your supporters.
What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising target?
Every dollar raised counts, so don’t worry if you don’t meet your goal. Your efforts will still make a meaningful impact.
