I'm fundraising for...
I’m taking part in MATES Big Lap 2025 to support mental health and suicide prevention, especially in high-risk industries like construction and mining.
Every year 190 Australians working in the construction industry take their own lives; this means we lose a construction worker every second day to suicide.
Construction workers are eight times more likely to die from suicide than an accident at work. For our young workers, the facts are that they are well over two times more likely to take their own lives than other young Australian men.
This event runs through April, encouraging movement—walking, running, cycling—to raise awareness and funds for MATES in Construction.
This year we are aiming for 9 laps around Australia! Every lap around Australia (15,000 km) symbolizes the nine Australians lost to suicide each day. Physical activity is a powerful tool for mental well-being, and this challenge is about breaking the stigma and raise awareness!
